I recently had a Mother’s Day Photoshoot Giveaway contest where I encouraged people to send me stories about the wonderful mommies they know and I received an overwhelming amount of response !  They are some seriously awesome mommies in Winnipeg! So sweet, so giving,  and some with some very heartbreaking stories. Out of almost 50 entries, I narrowed it down to three and had my family and friends help me choose the winner. Well, that didn’t go over too well! We couldn’t decide, and in the end I decided that ALL THREE finalists should receive something fabulous! Here are the stories of the winners that will receive a free family photography session, a 16×24 canvas of their favorite image, and 3 mini albums ! I’ve left out the names because these stories are so personal! I cannot wait to meet these fabulous mommies and their beautiful families!

“My sister deserves this photo shoot SO much.
She has NEVER had professional pictures of her family done before, just a couple sessions from Superstore, etc.
She LOVES your work, and always admires the girls pictures.
She is an amazing mother to Amber and Austin..
She is the Mom who makes everything homemade, from Jam to Bread to EVERY meal.
She works tirelessly all the time…and also is a nurse and has a part time position.
Last year when we lost our Dad during a kidney transplant, she was the one who donated her kidney.
She has had to relive the awful last moments and images for the last 10 months, being right beside him when he went into his first cardiac arrest.
Her kidney functions have not been what they are supposed to be since this surgery (scary).
I would love for her to be able to get a beautiful photo session from YOU for a great keepsake and memories for them – what a great Mother’s Day gift!!“

“I am nominating a wonderful friend of mine.
My friend has to be one of the most loving, caring, brave and strong mothers that I have ever known. She has the sweetest 3yr old daughter.
I nominate my friend because she has gone through so much to become a mother, she was told by her OBGYN and her fertility Dr that they may never be able to have children,
after 2yrs or so of trying in April 2009 they were blessed with their first daughter, after multiple surgeries she became pregnant again but sadly at 11 weeks miscarried.
Again after another round of surgery in April 2011 they became pregnant again, this time the pregnancy held and all looked really good, she was due Jan 23^rd 2012,
then in Nov/Dec 2011 my friend came down with CMV (a virus that makes you really sick), she was fighting off this virus for what seemed like eternity, she had to go for
regular U/S and fetal assessments to make sure everything was good with the baby (which they found out was another girl), nearing Christmas 2011, my friend was finally
starting to feel back to herself and at one of her last appointments before the Christmas holidays had a fetal assessment and was told the baby looked great and to go home
enjoy the holidays and that she was scheduled for an amnio after Christmas, on Dec 22^nd  my friend noticed that the baby wasn’t moving as much, she was trying not to be
paranoid but then noticed a real decrease in the baby’s movements, she went straight to the hospital where they did an U/S, the most devastating news any mother and father
could ever be told is what they heard next, that at 8 months pregnant, a mere 4 weeks before her due date, and 2 days before Christmas that their baby had no heartbeat, that
she had passed away in her mommys tummy. With heavy hearts they made the decision to be induced and on Dec 23^rd 2011 a sweet baby girl, 5lbs 13oz and 19.5 inches long,
perfect as can be. They spent 7hrs cuddling with her and taking pictures to remember. Since then my friend has had many ups and downs and is preparing to return to work soon.
 She is a registered nurse at the Grace hospital. She is one of the most kind hearted, giving people I know and this tragedy they endured has definitely changed her.
I think that mothers day is going to be difficult for her this year and I think that being able to get some great photos done with her daughter would be wonderful, a great way to
capture the love they have for each other as mother and daughter”

“I would like to nominate my beautiful aunt for your Mother’s Day give-away.
She is one of the most fun, selfless, beautiful women I know. She and her husband have one adopted daughter, one biological daughter, and after moving to Tanzania to teach for a few years,they adopted a little African orphan boy – who our entire family is now totally in love with.
Last summer upon their return from Africa, my aunt was diagnosed with advanced Breast Cancer. The last year has been unbelievably trying on them as a family – and all of us have watched, prayed and supported from the sidelines. She has undergone chemo, a double mastectomy, and is now undergoing radiation therapy . We continue to pray that God will restore her life, and that those 3 little kids will have their beautiful mama for many more years to come.
She is brave. And incredibly beautiful. ”
